Junior MasterChef: Pinoy Edition will pit kids from ages eight to twelve from across the country in various cooking challenges to see who has what it takes to be a future master chef. Headlining this program is the Teleserye Queen Judy Ann Santos in her very first hosting job. Serving as judges are top Pinoy chefs Ferns Aracama, Rolando Lau, and Jayps Anglo.
During the press conference for JMC, the three chefs talked about how they feel so honored to be working with the Young Superstar. Chef Jayps, the owner of Mu Shu Restaurant in Bacolod, said, “Feeling ko nananaginip pa ako. Si Juday, all my life nakikita ko lang sa TV, sa billboard. It’s an honor to be working with he. Of the few celebrities I know, she’s the nicest.”
Chef Lau, the owner of Bistro Filipino, described how he got to know Judy Ann as a humble star. “Sobra akong tuwang-tuwa na makatrabaho siya. First time ko siyang nakita nung kumain sila sa restaurant namin. Noon pa lang naramdaman ko na ‘yung pagiging down-to-earth. Sa taping hindi mo mararamdaman na artista siya. I’m honored to be working with her. I always look forward sa taping kasi lahat kami masaya sa set. Enjoy kami lahat sa ginagawa namin.”
He even admitted admiration for Judy Ann back when he used to watch her in the teleserye Mara Clara. “Nung napapanood ko siya sa Mara Clara, pareho pa naman kaming bata noon, ha ha ha! Crush ko siya noon. Kaya sobrang happy ko na nakilala ko siya.”
Chef Ferns, who owns Uva Restaurant and is an active committee member of Les Toques Blanches chef association in the Philippines, said he was in awe whenever he would realize that he is in the company of Judy Ann. “A few nights ago I was dining out with my friends. Ikinukwento ko sa kanila ‘yung ginagawa ko ngayon, taping for JMC with Judy Ann. One of my friends said, ‘Do you realize that Judy Ann is the last real superstar of our generation?’”
The executive chef revealed that on the JMC set, the kiddie cooks are all star struck by the actress. “She’s gorgeous inside and out. Siya ang ilaw ng JMC. When you see kids look at her, na star struck sila lahat sa bawat sinasabi niya. We listen to her but at the same time she also listens to us…. She is a true superstar.”
Junior MasterChef: Pinoy Edition will air a six-part primer beginning this August 20.
