AJ’s final show

WHILE mourning her son’s sudden passing, Marivic Sarte-Perez has something to look forward to: AJ’s last TV appearance—on the ABS-CBN drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya”— which airs tomorrow.
“The entire family will watch it together,” she told the Philippine Daily Inquirer on Monday, the eve of AJ’s burial. (The 18-year-old died in a road accident in Tarlac on April 17.)
AJ shot some scenes of the drama series in his mom’s hometown, Legazpi, Albay.
Happy with work
“He told me they had traveled from Laguna to the edge of Luzon,” Marivic recalled. “He was happy that his job took him to many places.”
In the MMK episode, AJ plays an impoverished boy who walks from Manila to Samar with his younger brother (played by Bugoy CariƱo).
“I’m sure he was able to relate to the character,” said Marivic. “AJ was very close to his younger brother (Gelo, 12).”
“To think they’re from so-called rival schools. AJ was from La Salle; Gelo is from Ateneo. Still, they were buddies. AJ was a loving and playful kuya. He never let the age gap get in the way of their friendship,” Marivic related.
Needless to say, she and husband Gerry have had to guide Gelo through this ordeal.
“We explained to Gelo … that he has to be strong … His Kuya AJ wouldn’t be pleased if he were sad. It wasn’t hard for Gelo to understand that our family should be united at this time, to better help each other through this crisis.”
She doesn’t think Gelo would follow AJ in show biz, though: “He has different interests.”
AJ’s friends from the biz are also helping the Perezes cope.
Judy Ann Santos, who played AJ’s big sister in the movies “Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo” and “Sakal, Sakali Saklolo,” remembered AJ as a “respectful and quiet kid.”
“Whenever we were in the studio, he’d go out of his way to greet me,” Santos recounted. “He was one teenager who knew the meaning of courtesy. I wish he could be around much longer, to influence his peers.”
Janus del Prado, fellow Star Magic talent, said: “He was fun to work with.” Another Kapamilya, Jed Montero, noted: “AJ was a big kid and a little brother to me.”
“He was accommodating. He agreed to host my niece’s debut,” said comedian John Lapus.
Kind words from friends and colleagues help the family tremendously, said AJ’s mom.
“We are so proud of him still,” she said. “Whether as a student or an actor, people have good memories of him.”
Famous visitor
Marivic also felt elated seeing fans at his wake in La Salle Green Hills and Christ the King Church. Even President Benigno Aquino III dropped by on the last night of the wake.
“I’m certain AJ would’ve been glad to see the President—and everyone—there,” she said.
And knowing how generous AJ had been, his family thought it wise to donate his corneas to the Eye Bank on his behalf.

“You’ve done a good job with Judy Ann,” ani*ya.

Daughter’s Performance Excites Juday

Judy Ann is a picture of a happy mother and a housewife when she made her first personal TV appearance in Talentadong Pinoy (Celebrity Showdown), after she gave birth to her son Lucho.

It was during the special birthday presentation of Ryan in Talentadong Pinoy, where Judy Ann was also a guest-jury.

Judy Ann was not only guesting in the show, Celebrity Showdown because of Ryan’s birthday but it was also because Yohan had a special number.

There was so much excitement on Juday’s part, when Yohan performed live on the stage of Talentadong Pinoy. Now, she knows how mothers feel when their chilren perform in school programs.

Both Ryan and Juday know that Yohan loves to act and dance. But the couple is firmed in saying that they allow their daughter to perform only during school vacation but not during school days.

Judy Ann’s new commitment

INQUIRER.net

MANILA, Philippines – Philippine viewership has a long-standing relationship with Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo: from her youthful days of portraying the kind but poverty-stricken, iconic Mara in the genre-edifying soap opera “Mara Clara,” to becoming the lovely bride to Ryan Agoncillo’s groom in a rare meeting of hearts and minds between two talented celebrities.

Judy Ann is undeniably Philippine showbiz royalty, and her eminence as a star can be attested to not only by the number of awards she has garnered over the years, but also by the number of her dedicated fans.

Coming back from a brief break from acting to give herself time to enjoy motherhood, Judy Ann yet again proves her star power to the public by way of a new commitment. And this is no ordinary commitment, for this has implications not only on her family life, but on the family lives of countless other moms as well: 100% nourishment.

Wanting to give her children no less than her 100%, Judy Ann champions the cause of complete nutrition in every Filipino household, as guided by the food pyramid, an internationally recognized standard of proper nourishment, hoping that other moms will also pick up the challenge of promoting 100% nourishment wherever in the country they may be.

Both 100% nourishment and the food pyramid are the main thrusts of Lactum, her daughter’s milk of choice and leading children’s staged milk. These thrusts bring Judy Ann’s involvement close to home – for she is spreading its message of nourishment not so much as a celebrity actress, but as a mother who constantly worries about her child’s nutritional well-being just like any other mom. Add to that the fact that she is also a chef, having taken up culinary studies, which means that anything related to food and feeding is immediately within her scope of concern and expertise. This is why she is passionate when it comes to Lactum – Lactum 6+ being her partner or “katuwang” in feeding.

The Drama of Feeding

The Lactum 6+ TV commercial in which Judy Ann appears tells the story of what every Filipino mom – Judy Ann included – goes through on a daily basis: that feeding children can be tedious, that it is a struggle, but one nonetheless must deal with it every single day and overcome this daily hardship, no matter how repetitive, because a mother who loves her child will never put her child’s health at risk.

Scenes from the project reveal Judy Ann in full form, involving a bit of drama, a tinge of romance, plus a side of the actress that audiences rarely get a taste of – action: a mom can reach a point of desperation where she has to kneel just in order to plead with her daughter to eat properly; a chase sequence can also occur around the dining table between a mom holding a plate and the child trying to get away from it; and sometimes tears can stream from a child’s eyes when her mom tries to keep her away from the favorite food that she so desires and loves to eat, ignoring everything else on the table.

While all moms are familiar with such hard domestic imagery, thankfully they do not have to face these trying times alone. For they have a partner that complements three balanced meals a day in making their children 100% nourished kids – and that partner is Lactum 6+ with essential nutrients.

It’s inevitable for moms to face such worries. The most common issue they have to deal with is having favorites in food where children tend to choose their favorite food over other nutritious choices, eating nothing else. Judy Ann attests to this, mentioning that her six-year-old daughter, Yohan, keeps asking for cheesedog and French fries.

To tell if her child is getting complete nourishment, Judy Ann always refers to the food pyramid. “E sabi sa food pyramid, mahalaga ang vegetables, so I try to sneak vegetables into her meals,” Judy Ann narrates. “For example, gagawa ako ng spinach soup, but I tell her it’s ‘Shrek soup’ para kainin niya.”

The actress certainly taps the practical chef in her for solutions. And because the practical chef in her has faith in the food pyramid, she also has faith in Lactum 6+, because its formulation of essential nutrients is inspired by the food pyramid.

A recipe for 100% nourishment and 100% peace of mind

On set, Judy Ann expresses her initial hesitation to let Yohan become part of the project. It is of course Judy Ann’s instinct to protect her child, and she is in no way going to force her daughter to do anything Yohan does not want to do.

Previous acting opportunities have been flung Yohan’s way before, but this is the first time her mom has let her actually take one, not only because Judy Ann herself believes so much in Lactum and what it has to offer to her child’s welfare, but also because Yohan herself enjoys drinking Lactum 6+. This TVC hence is actually Yohan’s debut participation in Philippine TV, and it has happened out of her own voluntary enjoyment of the milk.

“Masarap daw kasi,” the actress explains, giving her child's description of Lactum. “I don’t want her to say when she’s old that her mom forced her to drink milk she didn’t like when she was young,” she continues, punctuating her statement with mild laughter. The idea that Yohan is only forced to drink Lactum cannot possibly enter anyone’s mind, given the way she would finish entire glasses of it during the shoot in a heartbeat, even licking her upper lip in satisfaction as she smiles. “Na-try ni Yohan ‘yung ibang gatas. Ayaw, hindi siya nasasarapan.

Matabang daw,” Judy Ann says of another milk brand her daughter has tried, narrating how even she has had to add sugar to this other brand just to make it more palatable to her child.

Judy Ann excitedly shares that Yohan loves the taste of Lactum 6+, which the child has told her mom to possess just the right amount of sweetness to make it palatable. She adds, “Sugar is part of the food pyramid; and like everything in the food pyramid, it’s good for the body when taken in proper amounts.” She also stresses the reality that the right amount of sugar contributes to the taste of milk, saying that moms don’t necessarily have to compromise on taste just because they want complete nutrition for their children.

Kesyo more sugar, kesyo less sugar ang iba.

On the proper sugar levels, Judy Ann says, “Ni-research ko ‘yan, and na-verify ko na may tatlong batayan: World Health Organization (WHO), Institute of Medicine, and FNRI that recommend limiting sugar content to 39 grams, 100 grams, and 25 grams of added sugar per day para sa batang six to nine years old. Lactum 6+ has 9 grams of sugar per serving, which is less than two teaspoons of sugar. Kutsarita ha, hindi kutsara kaya tama lang. Pasok na pasok ang Lactum 6+ sa batayan ng local and international guidelines for its sugar levels.”

“Kids prefer milk that tastes good; mothers prefer milk that is nutritious – thankfully, Lactum 6+ compromises on nothing. On top of that, there is a Lactum for every stage. Kahit may feeding challenges as they grow up, there is Lactum who can be a nutritional support system because it contains essential nutrients from the food groups found in the food pyramid. Kaya naman, sa Lactum 6+ lang ako 100% panatag,” she concludes, with a special emphasis on “lang” to indicate that she strongly believes that only Lactum can give her peace of mind.

Who knew the recipe for peace of mind could be both nutritious and delicious? And easy on the budget too: the celebrity mom reveals how happy she has become since Lactum’s price went down, with savings reaching up to 92 pesos. “Mas madali nang maging 100% panatag,” Judy Ann concludes. One certainly cannot help but appreciate Lactum for possessing the right combination of nutrition, taste, and affordability.

Rommel Gonzales

Lady Amigaga.

Pangalawang nag-perform sina Jose Sarasola at Marion dela Cruz, a.k.a. MC Tuklaw & MC Quintin Tarantahin.

Celebrity contestant No. 3 si Miriam Quiambao, a.k.a.

Pang-apat na nag-perform si Jeffrey Santos, a.k.a. Bayaw. Si Jeffrey, as we all know, ang nakatatandang kapatid ni Judy Ann.

"VERY, VERY SPECIAL GUEST."

Very first TV performance ito ni Yohan.

"It could be my fallback [career]!" ang natatawa niyang sabi.

Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, proud to be a 100% panatag mom

Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, proud to be a 100% panatag mom

Kesyo more sugar, kesyo less sugar ang iba. Kaya 100% tiwala at 100% panatag ako.

Makakatipid ka na up to 92 pesos.

Judy Ann Santos says she has no plans on becoming a stage mother.

4/03/2011 10:46 PM

by: Rhea Manila Santos

040411-juday-main.jpgAfter years of keeping her daughter out of the limelight, Judy Ann Santos finally allowed cameras on her eldest daughter Yohan, whom she appears with in the recent Lactum milk commercial on television. Yung sa paggawa ng commercial, as long as gusto niya at ginagamit niya yung produkto, papayag naman kami. At saka nasa tamang time frame ng paggawa ng commercial kasi siyempre pag bata, alam mong importante sa kanila yung play time, kung kelan yung study time. Tapos this coming June sa big school na siya so gusto naming mag-concentrate na siya sa pag-aaral niya. Basta gusto niya, bakit hindi. at saka yung advertisers they make it convenient for us, very flexible naman sila.

At saka naghintay talaga sila. Nung una tinanong niya, ‘What’s a commercial?’ So parang gusto niya i-try. So that’s why we allowed her, simply because she said yes. If she didn’t say yes, it will be a very hard decision for me because Lactum is part of Yohan’s life already so parang, hindi naging mahirap. Okay lang kay Johann at ginagamit niya so go,” she says.

Juday admits that it didn’t take long for Yohan to get used to the cameras. “Nung first day ng shooting niya, medyo may pagpapatulo ng luhang naganap.

The 32-year-old mom also couldn’t hide how proud she was of her six-year-old daughter’s talents. “Mahilig siya kumanta. Mahilig din siya sumayaw. Mahilig mag-show, yung may sarili siyang cooking show. Gusto na nga niya makipag-date eh (laughs),” she says.

Being a child star herself, Juday says she isn’t keen on Yohan entering showbiz so early in life. At saka naging bata ako hanggang 14 years old ako.

Juday says that even if Yohan is already showing an aptitude for showbiz, she wants her daughter to explore her other interests first. Kung gusto niyang mag-soccer, or football, yes puwede. Which is something I really don’t like my daughter to experience kasi ako mismo hindi ako nag-enjoy sa home-study. After almost a year of shunning the limelight of the Philippine Cinema, the Queen of Drama is back to give smiles to her adoring fans with her signature tear jerking acting. But it would only be on a part time basis. Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo is ready as ever to give the profession she had come to love another go despite her now being a dedicated mom and a full pledged wife to Ryan Agoncillo and loving mom to Yohan and baby Lucho.

Despite her award winning and time tested unparalleled acting prowess, Judy Ann expressed her hesitance to go back as a public figure. One reason for this is her increasing body figure that is now quite noticeable after conceiving and giving birth to Baby Yohan. Judy Ann is known to have struggled on some weight issues in the past and had overcome is quite sensationally. This year, it would be another hurdle for her to overcome. She had gained a lot of weight and she is on a race to decrease it to make her more appealing to TV screens. Many are quick to notice that she now resembles Sharon Cuneta in her body structure and facial chubbiness.

No matter how tongues wag to criticize her ballooning figure, Judy dismissed it aside stating that her prolonged vacation off the camera had done her good and she is living a blissful life with Ryan which might be some of the contributing factor for her weight gain.

“I promised myself na i-e-enjoy ko lang muna itong mga nangyayari sa akin kasi mula eight years old nagtrabaho naman ako so first time ako nagpahinga ng ganito kahaba. So na-enjoy ko naman siya ng husto. Parang kulang pa nga,” Judy Ann said in an interview with ABS-CBN’s “SNN” on Thursday, March 17.

When asked about her weight, Judy Ann spewed biting lash backs. “Kung may magsasabi sa akin na mataba ako at hindi pa sya nabuntis, tatanunging ko sya ng: Bakit, nabuntis ka na ba?” was the Drama Queen’s hot tirade. Yet, she also shared that she is trying to get back on shape.

“Lucho is now five months. I started going back to the gym when Lucho turned 3 months kasi yun yung tamang proseso daw so the third month saka pa lang ako nagtakbo-takbo unti-unti. Nag gi-gym, nag da-diet,” she shared.

Judy Ann stated that it might take her awhile to engage in a full time job as an actress. One movie a year was all that she could promise because she wants to spend some more time with her family. As of now, her current project is endorsing a milk brand Lactum.
