WE have always admired writers who can direct, and directors who can write. We imagine that the balancing act itself is difficult, but the depth and the passion of these artists, along with their attitude and personality, make the daunting task altogether doable.
JOSE JAVIER REYES is one of the few brilliant minds in the world of entertainment. He is not only a very sensible filmmaker but also a very good writer.
For the next Cinemalaya, Reyes will be part of the director’s showcase category, where his feature film Mga Mumunting Lihim will be screened. It is his first foray into the Cinemalaya competition and he is simply excited.
“I have always been a supporter of indie films and Cinemalaya has always been a great venue to showcase these works. I am just elated to be part of Cinemalaya this year,” he said.
Reyes has convinced the likes of Judy Ann Santos, Janice de Belen and Iza Calzado to make time to act in his film and this early, cinema aficionados are already predicting that the film will be one of the biggest hits when the festival opens in July.
