SHOWBIZ NEWS NOW NA!
“May bago akong trainer ngayon na naghahanda sa akin to be fit for this soap. So, it’s a good bonding din for the two of us at nakakatuwa na ang sarap mag-start ng araw na alam mong nakapag-work out ka at asawa mo ’yung kasama mo na parang nagsimula ng perfect ’yung araw mo. Kumbaga, he is keeping me fit.
Very accommodating naman sila sa request ko pero it’s a give and take relationship naman as well na may pagkakataong may ganitong cut off, may ganito, ganyan. It’s always been like that with me naman, wala namang hindi napag-uusapan,” pagtatapos ni Juday.

Mga Mumunting Lihim (Those Little Secrets).
"Yes, it's about their quirks... but no, it's not feminist nor social realist story.
"It's about friendship.
"Si Janice was a replacement for Eugene [Domingo]. Uge was the original choice for the role, but Janice did equally well, I must say. I'm so happy she accepted the role.
"Well, of course, Iza Calzado ang Agot Isidro are both fine actresses, ‘tulad nina Janice at Juday.
“With these people making up my movie's cast, what more is there to ask for?
"'Okey,' sabi niya. Ni hindi nga niya tinanong yung role. Ganun kami magmahalan!"
Mga Mumunting Lihim (Those Little Secrets) is Joey’s first Directors’ Showcase entry for the annual Cinemalaya Filmfest.
It's produced under his new film outfit called Largavista—which replaced Available Light Productions upon the death of one of its incorporators, the late production designer and director Don Escudero.
"We plan to do more indie films. I'm looking for young directors who I'll look for financiers so we can have their careers launched."
With Mga Mumunting Lihim (Those Little Secrets), Joey is happy that his entry was finished ahead of schedule given by Cinemalaya.
"For me, it's not a competition but more of a camaraderie.”

“Over my dead body,” ang dialogue ni Tito A. noon sa tambalang Juday-Sam.
Bukod kina Sam at KC, makakasama ni Juday sa Against All Odds sina John Estrada, Mylene Dizon, Jessy Mendiola, Joseph Marco, Bryan Termulo, Tirso Cruz III at Coney Reyes

That's why before accepting the offer to do ABS-CBN's upcoming soap "Against All Odds," she made sure her work will not interfere too much with her duties as a mother.
"Kaya nakiusap ako kila Sir Deo (Endrinal) at director Malou (Santos) na magka-cut off ako ng midnight kasi maaga kaming gumigising for Yohan's school. Nakiusap talaga ako," she said in an interview on "KrisTV" on Tuesday, where she guested with husband Ryan Agoncillo.
"Even before ako nagpakita sa ABS-CBN para makipag-meeting, sinabi ko na agad agad na kung magso-soap ako, 'pasensiya na po but I have to set my rules and regulations as well.'
In exchange for her request to finish taping early, she told the management that she can be on the set as early as 7 a.m. after bringing her daughter to school.
"Minsan kasi kami ang naghahatid kay Yohan, may lambing kasi minsan si Yohan na 'Mommy bring me to school.' So kami ni Lucho punta kami ng school," she said.
Santos will be doing her comeback soap on ABS-CBN after taking a break from teleseryes for two years when she got pregnant and gave birth to her youngest child.
Santos also said her husband is supportive of her decision to go back doing soap operas.
"With Ryan naman, palagi 'yang nakasuporta sa akin. Palagi lang 'yan, 'oh basta huwag kang magrereklamo,'" she said.
Agoncillo said he only advised his wife to finish what she agreed to do.
"Sinasabi ko lang naman sa kanya as long as you know what you are going into at saka huwag ka lang magrereklamo kasi you agreed to do it. Just do it and finish it," he said.
For her upcoming soap, Santos will be working with KC Concepcion and Sam Milby.

Jessy Mendiola: ‘Hindi naman pwedeng parati kang lead, parati kang title role’
http://www.push.com.ph/features/8041/jessy-mendiola-hindi-naman-pwedeng-parati-kang-lead-parati-kang-title-role/

“It’s worth waiting for kasi after Budoy parang ang naibigay sa akin, primetime soap ulit. Masaya lang na pinili nila ako along with very big stars, nakakagaan lang, and it’s worth to wait,” paliwanag niya.
It’s enough. I’m still young naman, I’m not in a rush.
“’Di ako nagwo-worry kasi never akong nagkaroon ng permanent love-team. From Sabel to Budoy, to my other show and this one, [tapos]sa movie pa, iba-iba talaga lahat. I think it’s a good challenge na iba iba ang partners ko, at the same time makikita na kaya ko.”

Ella Cruz says she had many kontrabida roles before ‘Aryana’
http://www.push.com.ph/features/8043/ella-cruz-says-she-had-many-kontrabida-roles-before-aryana/
by: Bernie Franco

Habang hinihintay nina Direk Joyce at Direk Malu ang start ng kani-kanilang taping, the former will keep herself busy directing the resumption of the nauntol na Aga Muhlach-Regine Velasquez movie.
Direk Malu, meanwhile, has the weekly sitcom, Toda Max, starring Robin, Vhong Navarro, Pokwang and Angel Locsin.

When Judy Ann returns to ABS-CBN for her new series with Sam, ’di lang sa nabanggit na project siya magiging busy.
She will have another cooking show, Master Chef, Pinoy Edition, the senior version of the cooking show for kids which she also hosted early this year.
As if these are not enough, Judy Ann is also slated to start shooting for the Metro Manila filmfest entry, Enteng, Agimat and Me, with Senator Bong Revilla at Vic Sotto.
The film is produced by five companies — MZet, APT, OctoArts, GMA and Imus.

Mediocrity in Filipino films evident yet again in 2012 Manila fest
http://getrealphilippines.com/blog/2012/06/mediocrity-in-filipino-films-evident-yet-again-in-2012-manila-fest/
June 18, 2012
Most notable bottom-feeders in the heap are GMA Films’ entry Si Agimat, si Enteng Kabisote and Me and Regal Films’ Shake Rattle and Roll 14, both of which are mere regurgitations of tried and tested box office hit formulas of the past.
Si Agimat sees stars Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr and Vic Sotto reprising the same characters they played in the 2010 movie of (almost) the same title. The 2010 version, Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote (minus the “and Me” of the 2012 version) was a predictable critical disaster but, just as predictably, was a commercial succes opening at Number One in December of 2010 after raking in ticket sales of P31 million on its first day. The following year in 2011, Revilla and Sotto did encores in separate films — Revilla in the special effects extravaganza Panday 2 (a film widely criticised for being a blatant rip-off of the 2010 Hollywood blockbuster remake of Clash of the Titans) and Sotto in Enteng ng Ina Mo along with Ai Ai de las Alas which also features the same Enteng Kabisote character that traces its roots back to the 1980s television sitcom Okay ka Fairy ko. This year, perhaps to get more bang out of scrimped bucks, producers see Sotto and Revilla teaming up with Judy Ann Santos (presumably accounting for the “and Me” part of the current title) for that twin franchises’ latest incarnation.
The Shake Rattle and Roll (SR&R) franchise is a virtual classic mainly for its sheer endurance as a well of box office easy money. It is Sequel Number 14 this year (following Number 13 last year which was also exhbited at the MMFF) and standing tall as a monument to Filipino lack of imagination. The series started back in 1984 with award-winning director Peque Gallaga directing most of the stories up until the fourth instalment which was released in 1992.
Not surprising considering the selection approach applied…
The criteria in the selection of the eight entries in the main competition, according to official auditor Alba Romeo & Co.: 50 percent commercial viability, 40 percent artistic merit, 10 percent cultural and historical value. In short, even if your work scores perfect in the “artistic merit” and “cultural and historical value” departments, it will still be a toss-up against sure-thing hits that score even a fat zero in those aspects. That’s fair enough, considering the goal of the MMFF is to make a bit of money itself. But for a festival that takes the name of and is hosted by what is supposed to be the cultural capital of the nation, a selection criteria framework rigged to allow films like SR&R and Si Agimat to get counted into the showcase can only be flawed.
Such is the state of Philippine cinema that last year, following the conclusion of the 2012 MMFF, my colleague was moved to write…
How do these filmmakers sleep at night knowing that they are not really creating a work of art but just copies of some other people’s work? They are not even making people think; they are not even stirring emotions or provoking people into doing something with their lives; they are not even inspiring young people to aspire for greatness. What they are producing is just stuff you can discard after one use. In short, most Philippine films are a total waste of the people’s time and money. Then again, perhaps there is not much in their audience that film makers can work with. Whereas many excellent films in other countries draw from the deep wells of their host societies’ multi-layered national psyches, it is quite likely that Filipinos’ collective faculty for insight simply lacks the depth to support a film industry that caters to substance.
Indeed, it has become quite common knowledge that truly insightful and artistic Filipinos are left no choice but to seek validation overseas. This has already seen evidence in the Philippines’ music industry where edgy artists are also edged out by entrenched — often politically-backed — mainstream artists. The latter are even lobbying hard to curtail the entry of foreign artists wanting to perform in the country in order to protect the local industry.
The same is happening in the film industry. The MMFF had, in fact, excluded what is reportedly a very promising local film this year, as Business Mirror‘s Ricky Gallardo observes…
This early, the legion of disappointed Noranians are up in arms in criticizing the selection committee of the MMFF for leaving Brillante Mendoza’s Thy Womb out in the cold. The film, shot almost entirely in Tawi-Tawi, stars superstar Nora Aunor and Bembol Roco.Gallardo further laments…
We reckon that what the Noranians feel is very valid. The film is reportedly being eyed by a major international film festival for inclusion in its main competition lineup. It will be a big slap on the face of the organizers of the Metro Manila filmfest if the movie gets to represent the country in Europe this August, and a bigger slap if Thy Womb wins international recognition and acclaim.
Come to think of it, there’s nothing new with how the MMDA selected its official entries for this year’s filmfest—always be nice and accommodating to whoever is mighty and powerful, whoever controls the theatrical distributions, whoever has all the resources to throw away and spend, let’s give it to them. Never mind those who desperately want to uplift the rotten state of filmmaking in the country by coming up with the most creative concepts, and those who sincerely want to feed fresh entertainment ideas to the movie going public. And to think, as I’ve cited before, Media holds the key to the Filipino’s prospects for much-needed intellectual and cultural uplift. But like every opportunity that presents itself to this wretched society, politics, its politicians, and their patronage get in the way.
Every year, it’s the same players, the same forces, the same strategies, the same monopolies. Indeed, people have long been sick and tired with these pathetic patterns.

“I didn’t plan it to be all that easy,” said newcomer Dom Roque, 19,
of his entry to showbiz. “If at all, ‘di ko pa plinanong mag-showbiz.
(Tamayo).“Pretty satisfied na ako na nag-a-aral ako (taking up a course in Hotel and Restaurant Management at the St. Benilde College) and once in a while, gumagawa ng commercials.”
But one day, Dom related, Judy Ann Santos, a good friend of Beth, asked him to accompany her to ABS CBN, where she was to attend the storycon of her upcoming series for the network. Since he was not doing anything, he agreed.
And presto. Obviously attracted to his persona, the team of Judy Ann’s upcoming series, who included ABS-CBN Unit head Deo Edrinal and press relations head Biboy Arboleda asked Dom if he would be interested in an acting career.
“Wow,” gushed Dom, “before I knew it, isinabak na nila ako sa role na Hubert sa series na ‘Aryanna’.”
“Aryanna,” aired daily before “TV Patrol” on ABS-CBN, stars 15 year-old Ella Cruz in the title role. Fellow teenagers Paul Salas, Michelle Vito and now, Dom, star with her.

http://www.sunstar.com.ph/manila/entertainment/2012/06/18/bong-revilla-vic-sotto-judy-ann-santos-1-movie-project-227433
SENATOR Bong Revilla, seasoned actress Judy Ann Santos and veteran television host Vic Sotto will star in one big project this December.
Dubbed as "Si Agimat, si Enteng Kabisote and si Me," this unofficial entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) will be produced by OctoArts Films, Imus Productions, APT Entertainment, M-Zet
The movie will be the first project of the three lead stars together.
According to Sotto, the challenge for them is to create a bigger and more fun movie for everyone.
"Ang pressure namin ni Bong and Juday ngayon, eh (The pressure for us is) how to put up a very good and enjoyable product and kung papaano namin malalampasan namin ‘yung huli naming ginawa (how we are going to surpass what we’ve done before)," Sotto said.
When asked how they managed to get Juday's approval in the movie, the television host said, "Madali namang kausap si Juday. Nagustuhan niya agad ‘yung role niya and ‘yung project in general (Juday is easy to talk to. She liked her role in the movie and the project in general)."
"We made sure na ‘yung character niya dito (that her character in the movie) would be at par with Agimat and Enteng Kabisote," he added.
Also expected to grace the silver screen under this project are tandem Jose and Wally, Jimmy Santos, Ruby Rodriguez, Allan K and Vic and Bong's past leading ladies, Gwen Zamora and Sam Pinto. (Sunnex)

“With Tito Alfie naman he is really like that.
Grateful din ako na pinagbigyan niya rin kami, pinagbigyan niya ako with this soap not just because of Sam pero nakinig naman.
And at the same time, iba na rin ang televiewers ngayon.
“Pero what’s nice with this group now ay matapang lahat. We are all willing to take the risk of making different stories and come up with different characters. Masustansiya masyado ’yung teleserye.

Pathetic Pattern
http://businessmirror.com.ph/home/life/28668-pathetic-pattern
For
its 14th installment, producer Lily Monteverde’s horror franchise Shake
Rattle and Roll is again on the list. With only a little twist, Bong
Revilla and Vic Sotto are back in tandem with Si Agimat, Si Enteng
Kabisote and Me. This time, they have lured Judy Ann Santos to complete
their team.
Star
Cinema will try one more time to see its formulaic romance stories can
still hold steam by fielding a movie called One More Try with Dingdong
Dantes, Angel Locsin, Zanjoe Marudo and Angelica Panganiban. The
Lopezes’ film outfit will also partner with Vic del Rosario for a Vice
Ganda-Kris Aquino movie so gay-ly titled, Sisteraka.
Snubbed
by the film festival jurors last year for the Best Actor prize, ER
Ejercito is said to be back with a vengeance with his entry El
Presidente, and we are just glad that it’s Mark Meily who is taking over
the directorial task following Tikoy Aguiluz being sacked by the
producers.
The
only silver lining we see is perhaps the inclusion of Unitel’s twinbill
project Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang (“Mariang Alimango”/”Pedrong Walang
Takot”) and Lawrence Fajardo’s horror film The Strangers. This early,
the legion of disappointed Noranians are up in arms in criticizing the
selection committee of the MMFF for leaving Brillante Mendoza’s Thy Womb
out in the cold. The film, shot almost entirely in Tawi-Tawi, stars superstar Nora Aunor and Bembol Roco.
We
reckon that what the Noranians feel is very valid. The film is
reportedly being eyed by a major international film festival for
inclusion in its main competition lineup. It will be a big slap on the
face of the organizers of the Metro Manila filmfest if the movie gets to
represent the country in Europe this August, and a bigger slap if Thy
Womb wins international recognition and acclaim. (It will
be just like the Urian denying Asia’s Best Supporting Actress Shamaine
Buencamino her rightful recognition in her own country.)
Come
to think of it, there’s nothing new with how the MMDA selected its
official entries for this year’s filmfest—always be nice and
accommodating to whoever is mighty and powerful, whoever controls the
theatrical distributions, whoever has all the resources to throw away
and spend, let’s give it to them. Never mind those who desperately want
to uplift the rotten state of filmmaking in the country by coming up
with the most creative concepts, and those who sincerely want to feed
fresh entertainment ideas to the movie going public.
Every
year, it’s the same players, the same forces, the same strategies, the
same monopolies. Indeed, people have long been sick and tired with these
pathetic patterns.
Enteng Kabisote’, ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll’ franchises lead 38th MMFF entries
http://www.interaksyon.com/entertainment/enteng-kabisote-shake-rattle-roll-franchises-lead-38th-mmff-entries/

This Christmas, you’ll watch mostly the usual suspects in theaters nationwide.
Two longtime fixtures of the Metro Manila Film Festival–the “Enteng Kabisote” and “Shake, Rattle & Roll” franchises–will lead the 38th staging of the Metro Manila Film Festival in December.
The list of eight official entries released by the festival selection committee on Saturday contains the traditional children’s fare of fantasy, horror, and comedy films, with two token dramas in the mix.
After their 2010 MMFF blockbuster “Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote” Vic Sotto and Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. will team up once again in the latest “Enteng Kabisote” vehicle.
This time, Judy Ann Santos adds her own star power into the potential festival top grosser, which will be financed by no less than five production companies.
Meanwhile, the “Shake, Rattle & Roll” series rolls on with its 14th iteration, despite its producer Regal Films’ declaration last year that “Shake, Rattle & Roll 13″ was the last one.
Perhaps, the only surprise was the selection committee’s snub of director Brillante Mendoza’s entry, “Sa ‘Yo Ang Sinapupunan (Thy Womb)”, starring superstar Nora Aunor as a Badjao midwife.
Below are the eight films selected, with their producer, principal actors, and director:
1. “One More Try”, romance-drama from Star Cinema. Cast: Dingdong Dantes, Angel Locsin, Zanjoe Marudo, and Angelica Panganiban. Director: Ruel Bayani
2. “Mga Kuwento Ni Lola Basyang”, fantasy-comedy twinbill from Unitel Pictures. Cast: Richard Gomez, Paolo Contis, Sam Concepcion, Iza Calzado, Rufa Mae Quinto, Empress Shuck and Zsa Zsa Padilla. Directors: Mark Meily and Chris Martinez
3. “Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote and Me”, action-fantasy from Octo Arts Films, M-Zet Productions, Imus Productions, APT Entertainment, and GMA Films. Cast: Vic Sotto, Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. and Judy Ann Santos. Director: Tony Y. Reyes
4. “El Presidente”, historical action-drama from Scenema Concepts. Cast: Jeorge “ER” Estregan, Cristine Reyes, and Nora Aunor. Director: Mark Meily
5. “Shake, Rattle & Roll 14”, horror trilogy from Regal Entertainment. Cast: Lovi Poe, Dennis Trillo, and Iza Calzado. Director: Chito S. Rono
6. “Sisteraka”, comedy from Star Cinema and Viva Films. Cast: Vice Ganda and Kris Aquino. Director: Wenn Deramas
7. “The Strangers”, horror from Quantum Films. Cast: Julia Montes, Enrique Gil, Enchong Dee, Jaime Fabregas, and Cherry Pie Picache. Director: Lawrence Fajardo
8. “Coño Problems”, comedy from GMA Films: Aljur Abrenica, Solenn Heussaf, Maxene Magalona, Isabelle Diaz, Mikael Daez, and Bianca King. Director: Andoy Ranay.
“We’re very excited about the movies this year. A lot of thought has been put into the scripts, and most of our big stars today are included in the projects,” MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino, who is the overall chairman of the MMFF Executive Committee, said after the June 7 extended deadline for the submission of entries.
“What we want is for the entries to be worthy of international audience, and I believe that we can make it happen this year,” Tolentino added.
Aside from Centerstage Productions’ “Sa ‘Yo Ang Sinapupunan (Thy Womb)”, five other entries failed to make the cut:
“Ben Tumbling” (Scenema Concepts, starring Jericho Ejercito and Kris Bernal; directed by Adolfo Alix, Jr.), “Tuhog” (Quantum Films and Star Cinema, starring Eugene Domingo, Robert Arevalo, and Enchong Dee; directed by Veronica Velasco); “My Prince Charming” (Deus Lux Mea Films, starring Iza Calzado and Mario Maurer; directed by Adolfo Alix, Jr.);
Deus Lux Mea Films’ “Death March” (starring Cesar Montano, Zanjoe Marudo, and Jason Abalos; directed by Adolfo Alix, Jr.); and Cinemedia Films’ “Juan de la Cruz” (starring Coco Martin, Jake Cuenca, Albert Martinez and Maja Salcador; directed by Richard Somes).
KC now plays support
MEGASTAR Sharon Cuneta’s daughter KC Concepcion is about to make a project alongside Judy Ann Santos. But you won't see her as leading lady but only as support to Juday.““This could be a cause of concern even though KC won't admit it by saying she's just thrilled to work with the young superstar.“
“Of course, she still wouldn't have problems now as she's still part of the said project. But the downgrade makes significant symptoms on what’s next for her.“ “When the megastar left her behind in ABS-CBN, it isn't surprising for her fans to imagine what's KC career would be like now without the megastar’s influence there. Of the movies she did, she never did make any significant mark that should have captured viewers.“ “That's why it was also mentioned in the past that it is not surprising if she follows her mother to TV5.““Seriously now, what’s next? Just asking…

Bigo man sa Hollywood...

Bong.
