MANILA, Philippines -- ABS-CBN is gearing up for a packed
2012 as it lines up eight new television series that will fill up the
network's Kapamilya Gold and Primetime Bida blocks.
And these are only the ones announced or hinted at by their starring actors.
Starring: Zaijan Jaranilla, Carmina Villaroel, Diether Ocampo
What we know so far: Jaranilla plays a boy suffering from progeria, a rare genetic condition wherein symptoms resembling aspects of aging are manifested at an early age. "First time ko po maging mayaman," he said. In its teaser trailer, the child actor is shown blowing birthday candles in the shape of "40," suggesting his character is far older than his apperance. Also starring: Alfred Vargas, Gina Pareno, Amy Austria, Joel Torre; Status: Slated for July 2012 release
Starring: Kim Chiu, Maja Salvador, Enchong Dee, Xian Lim
What we know so far: "Labanan ng yaman, 'yun ang sigurado," Dee said. "Ina," which will see Chiu and Salvador as feisty females, will also revolve around the shoe-making industry -- the principal characters' source of riches. Dee said: “Doon iikot, sa sapatos, du’n ‘yung trabaho, ‘yung conflict, sa shoe industry, atsaka yumaman ‘yung pamilya dahil sa shoe industry." Also starring: Janice de Belen, Rayver Cruz, Cherry Pie Picache, Ronaldo Valdez, Eddie Gutierrez, Jayson Gainza; Status: Filming
Starring: Andi Eigenmann, Iza Calzado, Jake Cuenca, Gabby Concepcion
What we know so far: Eigenmann and Calzado's characters are street kids and best of friends growing up. Eigenmann's character goes on to have a better life as she is adopted by Concepcion's character, while Calzado continues to portray a woman who has a "simple life." Status: Officially announced
Starring: Matteo Guidicelli, Jessy Mendiola, Jewel Mische
What we know so far: The show is the latest in the series of ABS-CBN's "PHR" offerings. "Isang love triangle with Jessy and Jewel,” Guidicelli said. For Mendiola, it's a departure from her sweet image, as the soap is about "romance" and will feature sexy scenes. Status: Unannounced
Starring: Jodi Sta. Maria, Richard Yap, Mutya Orquia
What we know so far: The soap will see Yap take on his first leading role in a series, following his stint as "Papa Chen" and his guest-starring role in "Walang Hanggan." After playing Sophia in "100 Days to Heaven," Sta. Maria will also headline the series along with Orquia of the "Mutya" the mermaid fame. Status: Officially announced

What we know so far: Pascual said the "big" series will be "very physically challenging" and will feature "water elements." The soap is among the network's high-concept shows and will "go places," the hunk actor added. Status: Unannounced
Starring: Judy Ann Santos, KC Concepcion, Sam Milby
What we know so far: Santos returns to primetime after her two years off from headlining a series. The teleserye queen says "Against All Odds" will "empower women," as she will play a "relatable" character that will inspire mothers and housewives. Also starring: John Estrada, Mylene Dizon, Jessy Mendiola, Joseph Marco, Bryan Termulo, Tirso Cruz III and Coney Reyes; Status: Officially announced
Starring: John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo
What we know so far: Four years since "I Love Betty La Fea," Cruz and Alonzo will be reunited for the new TV project, whose pilot episode will feature scenes in Vienna, Austria. Filming for the soap started in May and is expected for a release later in the year. Status: Filming
