MANILA, Philippines — The Agoncillo household still buzzes with routine activities days before Christmas even when actors and couple Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo are busy promoting a Metro Manila Film Festival entry.
It may come as a surprise to many wives and mothers that Santos, who is also a chef, busies her pre-Christmas days with basic yet vital details of keeping things together for the family of four, including daughter Yohan and one-year-old son Lucho.
“For this season, I know Ryan’s schedule has him taping for [Eat] Bulaga for Christmas. So, during mornings, I wake up at 5 a.m. so I can join Yohan for breakfast and then I take her to school,” related the multi-tasking celebrity and product endorser to the local media in a recent press event for the movie “My Househusband: Ikaw Na.”
Santos, who took a post pregnancy break from show business when she gave birth to Lucho a year ago, is a confessed fan of appreciating blessed little luxuries she is still able to do for her husband and children. Despite the taxing spotlight, she relishes the moments when she can just be the wife and mother off-cam.
The TV host and actress takes pride in spending the days before Christmas by sticking to little things she loves doing. “Pagbalik from Yohan’s school, maglalaro kami ng konti ni Lucho, then gigising na si Ryan. Habang naglalaro si Lucho, gagawin ko naman ang baon ni Ryan for Eat Bulaga! and for Talentadong Pinoy.”
Agoncillo co-hosts the noontime show “Eat Bulaga” daily on GMA-7, and “Talentadong Pinoy” during weekends on TV5.
Santos will be forced to take time out from her motherly schedule on Dec. 24 when she joins the annual MMFF float parade, an event the former child actress enjoys as the event spells Christmas for the actress and the entire industry.
Talking about Dec. 24 and 25, she said, “Sa bahay lang kami because we have an MMFF entry, we’re just really focused on promoting the movie.”
Still, the actress is excited over the fact that her son will get to appreciate Christmas better this year. “Ngayon, ma-e-experience na ni Lucho yung Christmas kasi noong first Christmas nya last year, babing-baby pa siya. At least now he is able to appreciate the Christmas tree and lights.”
