Ella reveals crush on Xian; Bianca’s take on transgender issue

MANILA, Philippines — Teen star Ella Cruz is not about playing coy when it comes to answering showbiz questions.

“Crush ko po si Xian Lim,” the 15-year-old declared on “TV Patrol,” May 2. “Gusto ko po siyang makatrabaho.

“Saka si Kim Chiu po, gusto ko po siyang makatrabaho,” she noted from her wish list that also included Anne Curtis and Judy Ann Santos.

Ella’s biggest break to date is her lead role in the TV series “Aryana.” But the young actress didn’t just land the job like it fell from the sky. Paying her dues, she toiled long and hard for a crack at stardom, beginning with—not surprisingly—joining kiddie pageants.

“Talagang lahat po ng contest na puwede kong salihan sinasalihan ko po,” she unabashedly admitted. She didn’t complain if her roles then were minors like “padaan-daan lang sa likod, best friend lang nu’ng bida, okay lang po.”

Ella is at a promising stage in her career now, so when asked what role would give her the ultimate challenge, she quipped, “Gusto ko po ‘yung kakaiba, eh, kunwari baliw.”


Meanwhile, former beauty queen Bianca Manalo, Ella’s co-star in “Aryana,” was ased to give her stand on the controversial issue of transgenders being considered to join the Miss Universe pageant.

“Ako po personally, meron naman pong sariling pageant for them (transgenders),” she pointed out.


As for Miriam Quiambao’s rants about homosexuals, Bianca opted to steer clear of the issue, noting, “Opinion na niya po ‘yon, eh. ‘Yun po ang stand niya [so] rirerespeto ko na lang po ‘yon.”
