We have seen and hear it in the news; a lot of Hollywood celebrities are open to adopting kids. Take for instance the famous Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie; they have adopted a couple of kids before they have their own. In the Philippines, popular actress like Judy Ann Santos adopted a baby girl even before she got married. For whatever reasons they have for adopting these kids, I am pretty sure that these kids are lucky to have them and vice-versa.
Nevertheless, these adoptive parents also have to face several challenges after they decided to pursue the adoption. The process of adopting a child is an uphill climb; there are several requirements that you need to meet and interviews that you have to go through. Some adoptive parents can’t help but ask if the entire process is really worth it.
Another difficult decision to make is whether or not to tell your child that he or she is adopted. Some parents would rather not discuss it to their kids. However, there will come a certain point in life that you need to talk about it. How the child will cope or handle the information is also a challenge for adoptive parents. Some kids may begin to become curious about their biological parents; you have to be ready with endless questions too. You need to respect this curiosity and be positive about it.
