Judy Ann Santos may have enjoyed hosting “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition.” But she admits that she still misses acting. That’s why she plans to do a movie and teleserye this year.
“Yes, there’s a possible teleserye, maybe this year. I miss acting kasi doon naman talaga ako nanggaling,” Judy Ann said at the press conference of “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition” on Wednesday, February 15.
She shared that she will be doing the independent film “Mga Mumunting Lihim” for Cinemalaya, together with Eugene Domingo, Agot Isidro and Iza Calzado.
"Gagawa ako ng movie with Direk Joey Reyes for Cinemalaya. Excited ako dun kasi first ni direk Joey sa Cinemalaya, first ko din 'yung pang-presko lang ba na gagawa ka ng isang character na out of the box,” she said.
Judy Ann said that her new movie deals on friendship, which anyone can relate to. She feels excited about doing an indie film for the first time.
"Makaka-relate ang bawat isa. Nakakatuwa kasi nakaka-excite magbitawan ng dialogue na hindi siya masi-censor kasi indie film siya. So excited talaga ako," Judy Ann added.
The drama actress also expressed interest in working with John Lloyd Cruz, her co-star in the TV drama “Puso Ko’y Iingatan Ka.”
Is a movie with John Lloyd possible?
“Wala namang imposible. Pareho naman kaming nasa ABS-CBN, pareho kaming may kontrata sa Star Cinema, I think anything is possible,” Judy Ann replied.
John Lloyd Cruz
She said that she would like to work with John Lloyd again, since it’s been a long time since they last had a project together.
"Of course, gusto kong maka-trabaho si John Lloyd. Baby boy ko 'yan eh. Nagkasama kami sa “Puso Ko Ay Iingatan Ka” bilang kapatid ko. Naging close din kami ng sobra doon, then biglang nawala na lang hanggang sa sikat na sikat na niya. Pero kapag nagkikita kami ay sobra naman syang makabati," she said.
Judy Ann added that John Lloyd was her choice when Star Cinema asked her who she wants to work with.
"Napag-usapan na namin yan. Tinanong na din naman ako if possible kung magbabalik pelikula ako, kung sino yung gusto kong makasama, sinagot ko si John Lloyd,” she said.
Judy Ann recalls that she saw John Lloyd’s potential as an actor years back. What surprised her is his knack for comedy.
“Noon pa naman magaling na syang artista. Even before nakita ko kung gaano kamahal ni John Lloyd ang craft nya pagdating sa pag-arte. Nung time na yun hindi ko rin alam na matindi pala ang tatahakin ng batang ito,” she said.
More confident host
Judy Ann learned many things in the “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition.” She learned to be a more confident host and more cooking techniques. Judy Ann also developed more patience.
“I guess mas may lakas ng loob ako ngayon ng konti kasi nahasa ako sa mga bata. Iba kasi kapag bata ang mga kasama mo, mas nai-enhance ang pakikipag-usap mo nang maayos,” she said.
Judy Ann is also thankful to co-hosts Chef Lau, Chef Ferns and Chef Jayps who help her judge dishes and learn culinary terms.
“Malaking bagay din that I have these three chefs beside me, who are always been there, telling me what to do and what words to use when it comes to culinary. It's a good thing na it's not just me doing the show, it's all of us.”
