In 2006, Santos opened her first restaurant Kaffe Karabana in Quezon City. But because of her busy schedule, she decided to close it.
In an interview, Santos said she might put up a fine dining restaurant next year.
Sabi nga sa akin ni Chef Fern (Aracama) na it’s not easy to put up a restaurant, especially kung ikaw 'yung magluluto kasi it requires a lot of time and patience and, of course, a lot of money," she said.
But before the restaurant, she said she might try doing exclusive dinners for small groups.
Siguro kung may magpapa-reserve for a maximum of 15 people, hanggang dun kaya ko mag-serve ng fine dining na menu for reservations," she said.
Pero 'yun 'yung definite plans ko for this year. Hopefully next year may restaurant na fine dining,” she added.
Santos admitted that her love for cooking was the reason she put up Kaffe Karabana.
She even took up culinary courses under veteran chef Gene Gonzales.
For Santos, the restaurant and the culinary studies will also come in handy if ever she decides to leave showbiz.
It’s a continuous process na if you really want to learn, kahit anong edad ka puwede ka mag-aral. So chinallenge ko 'yung sarili ko, nag-culinary [studies] ako and napatunayan ko na maraming pera sa culinary [arts],” she explained.
