A fiercer and stronger KC Concepcion will be seen on ABS-CBN’s upcoming primetime drama series “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.”

According to KC, she initially had second thoughts about accepting the project which also stars the Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera Judy Ann Santos and Kapamilya leading man Sam Milby.

“I didn’t have any idea about my role until Ate Juday called me to say that I should I accept the role as her antagonist,” said KC. “I didn’t know then if I can do a role like that, but I am very happy now that I took the challenge. Working with Ate Juday has been a very overwhelming experience.”

The Kapamilya actress added that her most memorable experience with Judy Ann in “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” so far were their ‘sampalan’ scenes. “We did an intense scene once where I literally saw stars after Ate Juday slapped me. That’s when I saw and realized how dedicated and committed Ate Juday is to her craft. It would really be embarrassing if I would not give my 100% in this project,” she shared

Kapamilya leading man Sam Milby is ready to take on a dark character in ABS-CBN’s highly-anticipated drama series “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” which premieres on Monday (June 17).

“I’m very happy and excited for the premiere of ‘Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala’ because I’m portraying a different role here. The audience will get to see a different Sam compared to the characters I’ve done before,” says Sam.

In the series, Sam gives life to the character of Eros Diomedes, a rich young man who grows up with a temper and many childhood issues because of his domineering family. While he was accomplishing a business-related task assigned by his father, Eros meets and falls in love with a woman from the province named Anessa, who is portrayed by the Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera Judy Ann Santos.

According to Sam, it is a huge honor for him to work with Judy Ann in a project. “Even if I did not grow up here in the Philippines and if I didn’t get to watch her previous shows, I really have to say that Judy Ann is a great and talented actress. MANILA, Philippines -- The pressure is on for Sam Milby, after being personally chosen by Judy Ann Santos to be her on-screen partner and "kontrabida" in her highly anticipated comeback series.

The 29-year-old actor was initially at a loss for words during a press conference held Tuesday for the upcoming series "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," when asked for his reaction.

"Being hand-picked by the queen, you can't help but just say, 'Honored, privileged and thankful,'" said Milby, who is teaming up with Santos for the first time in the project.

"Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," which will start airing Monday during ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block, is billed as the return of Santos as the "Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera."

"Sana lang hindi ko siya madi-disappoint," Milby added, "Si Juday (Santos), ang management, everyone."

In the series, Milby portrays Eros Diomedes, a rich young man who develops an aggressive temper from growing up surrounded by a domineering family. He falls in love with Anessa (Santos), a woman he meets while on a business trip in the province.

Later on, however, as seen in the trailer for "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," Eros and Anessa's relationship turns sour, when he starts having an affair and physically abusing his partner.

'Worst critic'

Admittedly, Milby had said he finds it challenging to take on emotionally charged scenes opposite Santos, adding that he still continues to work on being fluent in speaking Filipino.

"I'm challenged by myself, the management, sa mga viewers, kay Juday," said the actor, who grew up in Ohio in the United States.

"I'm my own worst critic, I'm very hard on myself, I'm a perfectionist minsan... Nakakahiya naman, eh, kasi ka-eksena mo si Juday (Santos), si Tito Pip (Tirso Cruz III), si Tita Coney (Reyes)," he added, referring to his other co-stars in the series.

Being critical of his own performances, Milby said, has fortunately paid off.

"I'm just pressuring myself to really improve, kasi gusto ko talaga ipakita na I'm taking this seriously, to improve improve on my craft... Ngayon, nag-iimprove na ako, and my confidence is getting a lot better," he said.

INGAT na ingat si Sam Milby sa eksenang bubugbugin niya si Judy Ann Santos sa pagsasamahannilang teleserye na Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.

Wala namang reklamo sa Teleserye Queen pero ang aktor na rin ang nakukonsiyensiya matapos gawin ang eksena.

“Well, she lets me act. But pagkatapos ng eksena, nakukonsiyensiya ako. ‘Okey ba kayo? Okey ba kayo?’ Hahaha! Nahihiya ako sa kanya pero mabait siya sa akin pero she loves me and it’s okey with her.

First time rin ni KC Concepcion na makatrabaho si Judy Ann. Eh, kontrabida pa ang role niya sa series kaya naman sa trailer pa lang, nakatikim na siya ng sampal-Juday, huh!

“Si Ate Juday po kasi, lagi niyang sinasabi na hindi niya kaya i-fake. She really does it ’coz she’s in the moment when she does the scenes.

“Obviously, for the first time, in my work here, since I got into mainstream showbiz, never ko rin namang inisip na magiging aktres ako or magagampanan ko ang ganito ka-challenging na role.

“Because I really came home as a commercial model. And I really came home as a host. So, it’s really such a good part na napaka-generous ni Ate Juday. Tinuturuan niya kami sometimes ’pag nasa eksena.

“Nanampal siya ng ganoon kasakit at kalakas. Talagang mari-realize mo na, totoo ito! This is thereal thing. This is somebody na seasoned actress na napakaraming teleserye na nagawa at napakaraming artista na nasampal.

To celebrate her drama comeback, a TV special titled "Judy Ann Santos: Her Royal Journey on TV" will air on June 16, 9:00 p.m. on cable channel Jeepney TV (SkyCable Channel 9).
It will retrace the actress' career beginning in 1986, when she made her television debut in "Kaming Mga Ulila."
Santos' subsequent lead roles in some 10 TV series will be revisited, including her breakthrough performance as Mara in ABS-CBN's "Mara Clara," and her most memorable characters on the small screen such as Esperanza, Krystala, and Ysabella.
Taking part in the TV special are Santos' erstwhile co-stars, including Piolo Pascual, Gladys Reyes and Wowie de Guzman, who will recall their working relatinships with the young superstar.

The actress' mentors will also be interviewed in the retrospective. They include her long-time manager Alfie Lorenzo and film directors Laurenti Dyogi and Jose Javier Reyes.

Judy Ann Santos talked about her return to soap opera via her new ABS-CBN teleserye Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.

The Kapamilya Queen of Soap Operas said her new show is about women's rights and empowering women.

"Ang babae hindi dapat sinasaktan. Ang babae dapat marunong lumaban, basta nasa tama ang ipinaglalaban niya, and at the same time, para mag-boost ka ng pakiramdam ng isang babae.

"Hindi ka porke't asawa ka e basta ka na lang papayag sa nangyayari lalo na pag naaapi ka na.

"Maraming makaka-relate na mga babae rito," Juday told the reporters interviewing her at the presscon of her show held at the Dolphy Theater of ABS-CBN recently.

The show will also feature women's self-defense techniques.

"Hindi lang sa asawa, kundi sa kabuuan.

"Hindi ba't napakadelikado ng mundo natin ngayon, e. Mundo na nga, e. Hindi na lang basta Pilipinas 'yan.

She is having mixed emotions about the premiere of her much-awaited comeback series  on ABS-CBN.

“I’m nervous and excited at the same time. I’m really flattered to be given this kind of project, and I’m very thankful to ABS-CBN because they have been supporting me and giving me wonderful projects for the longest time,” says Judy Ann Santos.

According to the actress, she did not think twice in accepting the project as her comeback because of its beautiful and extraordinary story.

“The story of Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala is about women empowerment. It fights for the rights of women and shows the strength of every human to fight for the principles that they believe in,” she says.

Judy Ann, dubbed “Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera,” intimates that after all the drama series that she has made, the only thing that she considers as her key to success is her love for her craft.

“For me, there is no real secret on how to maintain your status in show business. If you love what you’re doing and if you love and respect the people you’re working with, the support of the people for you would never fade,” Judy Ann shares.

As part of ABS-CBN’s celebration of 60 years of Philippine Television, Huwag Ka Lang Mawawalais the story of Anesssa Panaligan (Judy Ann), a strong woman and a loving daughter who will do everything for the sake of her family. Amid all the trials that she is facing, Anessa meets and falls in love with Eros Diomedes (Sam Milby), a rich young man who turns her life into a nightmare.

After being in showbiz for over 20 years, Judy Ann Santos remains one of the most bankable stars in Philippine television. In an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph, the Queen of Teleseryes shared what she thinks is the reason behind her staying power in show business. “Siguro the key is just to be honest on what you want, kung ano ‘yung pinaninindigan mo, kung ano ‘yung pinaniniwalaan mo,” she remarked.

The actress added that in order to produce quality work, you need to be honest enough with management and with your co-workers. “Feelingko pag naging honest ka naman sa kanila at naexplain mo ng maayos kung ano ‘yung gusto mong mangyari, iintindihin ka naman nila eh. Kaysa don sa hindi ka naging tapat sa kanila, tapos parang niloko mo lang sila, may inisfactor, so you might explain kung bakit, maiintidihan naman nila,” she said.

With so many stars today, Judy shared her advice on how to make it in the industry. “Just give respect to everybody, to all your works, to all your projects. Respect talaga ang magiging susi mo para magstay ka dito. Kasi ‘yung mga taong nakatrabaho mo, ‘yun din ‘yung mag-proprotect sa ’yoalong the way,” she relayed.

As she gears up for her new teleserye Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, Judy Ann is happy to know that a lot of people are anticipating her comeback. “It makes me smile. It’s flattering pero it makes me nervous din naman. Kasi parang ang tagal mong nawala tapos nakakatuwa lang isipin na kahit na nawala ka may naghihintay pa rin sa ’yo. So parang tama naman ‘yung desisyon ko pala,” she commented.

Now that she’s a mother, the actress sees to it that she commits her self to projects that will make her children proud of her. “Siyempre you want to do projects na you can show to your kids. And eventually your kids will be able to watch it ‘yung magiging proud naman sila sa mga ginawa mongproject. One reason why I choose projects that I do now, it’s really because it’s more of quality than quantity,” she said.

On the lessons that she learned in portraying her new role in Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, the actress relayed, “It’s really respect for everyone, how to defend yourself and how to actually tell your husbandna wala namang hindi nakukuha sa hindi magandang usapan. And really ang pagbubuhat ng kamay sa isang tao ‘yun talaga ‘yung nakakatanggal ng respeto sa isang relationship.”

Nagustuhan namin ang Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala dahil serious acting at matured ang atake sa soap, parang bawal magpa-cute ang tatlong bida, dahil tungkol sa realidad na nangyayari sa lipunan ang napapanood sa screen. Kuwento ito tungkol sa lalaking anakmayaman (Sam) na sunudsunuran sa ama (Tirso) na lahat ng sinasabi ay hindi puwedeng kontrahin, at para matakasan ang buhay na kinalakihan ay pinakasalan ang babaeng simple at mahirap (Judy Ann) at tumira sa bukid.

Pero hindi ganoon kasimple at kadali ang sitwasyon, dahil bukod sa hindi pabor ang magulang ng lalaking anak-mayaman sa napangasawa ay may psychological at emotional problem ang character ni Sam sa naging buhay niya habang lumalaki sa poder ng ama na mala-Hitler magpatakbo ng pamilya.

Lalo pang nadagdagan ang problema nang itakwil siya at tanggalan ng allowances, at nang hindi na makatiis sa hirap ay bumalik sa magulang. At dahil magkakaanak at ayaw lumaking mahirap ang panganay na apo ay pinatira ang simple at babaeng mahirap sa mansiyon ng asawa at dito na nagsimula ang kalbaryo niya.

Dito papasok ang babaeng kontrabida (KC) na kasamang lumaki ng lalaking anak-mayaman at umaasang siya ang pakakasalan pagdating ng tamang panahon na pangako nila sa isa’t isa noong mga bata pa sila, pero hindi nga natupad dahil mas pinili ang babaeng simple at mahirap. Gaganti ang kontrabida at tutuksuhin ang lalaking bata pa lang ay minahal na niya.

Maayos ang characterization ni KC kaya kahit kontrabida nga ay hindi ka magagalit sa kanya, maiintindihan ng viewers kung bakit naging ganoon ang ugali niya, at si Sam lang ang itinuturing niyang pamilya at nagmamahal sa kanya.

Hindi bibitiwan ng mga manonood ang unang linggong episode ng Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala at sana lang ay hindi ito lumaylay sa mga susunod pang episodes.

Tawanan nang tawanan ang audience dahil sa tuwing ipinapakita si Sam na walang damit ay marami ang kinikilig at isa na ang kapatid ni KC na si Garrie na naringgan namin ng, “Ang guwapo ni Sam, `kainis!“ kaya napapangiti na lang ang tatay nitong si Gabby na seryosong-seryosong nanonood.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Santos said she is more curious on how viewers will react to the story of “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.” “Ayaw ko isipin masyado. Kinakabahan ako, basta may kaba at nerbyos pero happy ako ng bongga kasi lalabas na ang pinaghirapan namin ng almost a year of taping,” she said. Santos said she is hoping she and the rest of the cast could give viewers a riveting story that will meet their expectations. “I just hope magustuhan nila kasi nag-e-enjoy kami sa taping. Sana maitawid namin ng bongga. Kung may expectations man, sana ma-meet naming,” she said.

Meanwhile, Sam Milby, who will play the character of Santos’ husband, said he is honored to be given the chance to work with the “Queen of Teleserye.” “Ito ang pagbabalik ni Juday and for me also, first time to have something like this. Judy Ann Santos is proud to announce that her daughter Yohan is now officially and legally an Agoncillo.

After years of waiting, the court ruled on the couple’s favor.

“We had an intimate dinner to celebrate the good news. Tagal din kasi namin hinintay. Kailangan ko na rin kasi yong legal papers dahil pasukan na ng bagets,” the actress adds.

She said regarding their recent US trip, ‘It was a time for us to be together. Ako mismo nag-alaga sa dalawang bata. Hindi kami nagsama ng yaya.”

Now she’s back with a more daring role in the soap opera that will air on June 17. “Panahon na siguro na maging vigilant kaming mga babae na hindi na umabot sa pananakit sa amin ng aming mga asawa. Sa panahon ngayon, may boses na kami mga babae,” she said.

In the tele-serye, she plays the battered wife of her husband played by Sam Milby. KC Concepcion plays the antagonist.
