Santos-Agoncillo will be part of “Fight Like A Girl,” a seminar organized by International Krav Maga Federation Philippines for the benefit of Women’s Crisis Center.
It will be held at the Bahay ng Alumni at the UP Diliman Campus in Quezon City on Saturday, March 29, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Trained in Krav Maga herself, Santos-Agoncillo stressed the need for women to know how defend themselves not only from abusive partners, but also from robbers, rapists and other criminals.
“Kailangan talaga ‘yung mga kababaihan alam kung paano dipensahan ang sarili nila. Kasi sa panahon ngayon, kadalasan may rape, mga nabubugbog na babae. Ang daming krimen na nangyayari ngayon involving women,” she said in an interview on radio DZMM on Monday.
After training in Krav Maga for her recent soap on ABS-CBN, “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,” Santos-Agoncillo partnered with the Women’s Crisis Center to help empower victims of domestic violence.
The Kapamilya star hopes that many women will take part in the free seminar to support their cause.
“Libre po ito… Lahat po ng kababaihan pwede po sa Sabado,” she said.
General principles of Krav Maga, a self-defense system developed in Israel, include counterattacking, targeting a person’s most vulnerable points such as the eyes and throat, and neutralizing an opponent as quickly as possible.
Its techniques have been used in a number of movies such as Jennifer Lopez’ “Enough” and in the “Taken” series starring Liam Neeson.
