Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo will once again be paired on the big screen for a movie about a married couple.
For this year's Metro Manila Film Festival, they will topbill the Joey Reyes film My Househusband: Ikaw Na!
During the press conference of the movie held at Guilly's Tomas Morato yesterday, November 22, Direk Joey differentiated this MMFF entry from their previous movies that also tackled married life.
Direk Joey stressed: "Kinaklaro po namin na ang My Househusband ay hindi third part ng Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo at Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo.
"Ito ay kuwento ni Rod at Mia Alvarez. It's a totally different story but it's about a couple na may dalawang anak at parehong may trabaho.
"Ang lalaki [nawalan ng] trabaho at eventually, na-pwersa ang babae na magtrabaho.
"It's tunay na buhay. It's not a comedy or a drama—it's both.
"Kung tutuusin po, ang buhay naman natin, nakakatawa at nakakaiyak.
"Is it drama or is it a comedy? I'd say it's real life.
"That it what makes this movie different from all other movies in the festival: it's real life."
WHO MAKES THE FIRST MOVE? During this presscon, both Juday and Ryan were also very open about talking about the dynamics of their relationship, especially when it comes to resolving conflict.
Whenever they have disagreements or "tampuhan," Judy Ann admits that she is the one most likely to make the first move to patch things up.
"Makulit po talaga ako pagdating sa asawa ko kasi pag hindi kayo okay na mag-asawa tapos nasa isang kwarto kayo, parang hindi tama, lalo na kung hindi mo alam kung anong nangyayari.
"Kung alam ko kung ano ang kasalanan na ginawa ko, hindi ko talaga siya kukulitin.
"Pero kung hindi ko alam, hindi naman ako titigil sa sa pangungulit sa kanya.
"'Sige na please, mag-usap tayo,' hanggang sa mabuwisit na siya sa akin, kakausapin na niya ako."
Ryan then revealed that they have switched styles when resolving conflicts.
"Parang nagpalit," he disclosed.
"Seven years together, kasama ang pagiging mag-boyfriend.
"Dati po kasi ako yung ayaw bumitaw at nagsasabi, tapusin na natin ito.
"Parang natutunan ko ang 'Judy Ann style' ng pag-aaway, so ginagamit ko sa kanya ngayon. Medyo quiet na muna, bayaan kitang ikaw ang lumapit. Mukhang ume-effect naman," he said with a smile.
"Mukhang ume-effect naman po kasi matiwasay kaming nagbabati."
"Kung ako dati ang pumupunta sa magulang niya para humingi ng kakampi, ngayon, siya ang pumupunta sa magulang ko para humingi ng kakampi."
THE IMPORTANCE OF CONFLICT. Even though Juday and Ryan do not relish the thought of fighting with each other, they recognize the importance of conflict in their relationship.
Ayon kay Ryan: "Malaking bagay ang tampuhan, in fairness, pero hindi ko siya nami-miss.
"Malaking bagay ang tampuhan kasi, after a while, pag nag-usap kayo, may iba pang issue na nare-resolve, hindi lang yung issue na nag-surface.
"Marami kayong nailalabas na emosyon kasi apat na araw na hindi kayo nag-uusap, tapos lumalabas lahat ng pagkabuwisit mo.
"Pag nag-uusap kayo, nare-resolve na pati yung mga natago mo na. Yung akala mo kinalimutan mo na mga emosyon, lalabas rin yun.
"Malaking bagay ang tampuhan paminsan, hindi araw-araw, hindi buwan-buwan, kasi nagkakaroon kayo ng chance na maintindihan ang isa't isa.
"Nagkakaroon kayo ng chance na maglambingan, mag-date, bumalik sa pagkabata.
"Importante nga naman yun sa buhay mag-asawa na meron kayong time together.
"At bumabalik kayo sa pagiging boyfriend-girlfriend."
Ryan also believes that having conflicts as a married couple can actually help them recognize what needs to be fixed in their relationship.
"Pag nag-away, wag naman yung away lang. Dapat yung may magandang pupuntahan.
"Mahirap yung away nga kayo ng away, yun at yun din naman.
"Pag may pinag-awayan, alam mong in the future, hindi mo na gagawin ulit kasi yun naman ang pinag-ugatan.
"More than the away, the learning ang importante.
"Pati yung time together niyo to heal.
"Yung away ng away, bad trip yun. Ang maganda yung away na may patutunguhan.
"Kami naman, in the more than three years that we've been married, ang mga away naman namin, may patutunguhan."
During the press conference, Direk Joey mentioned that he had the chance to observe the couple when they were having a fight. The director of My Househusband said that when they are having a fight, Juday and Ryan are "quiet to death."
He recalled, "Wa pansinan...nakaka-afraid. Where do you place yourself? They're very quiet fighters, hindi sila nakikipagbatuhan ng pinggan."
When the married couple was asked if they really don't raise their voices when they have an argument, Juday was quick to point out, "Nagsisigawan kami."
Ryan added, "Normal naman kami. It's just that, hindi mo na lang iparirinig kasi hindi kami iskandaloso.
"Magkatrabaho man kami na may issue, gaya ng nakita ni Direk Joey, tahimik lang. Bakit mo naman ii-involve ang buong set?
"Pagdating sa bahay, hindi kami naghahabulan ng kutsilyo..."
Juday quipped, "Hanggang ash tray lang!"
Ryan revealed, "Yung away namin, sa kwarto, minsan sa banyo lang. It's just the two of us, kami lang naman ang magka-away, bakit ii-involve namin ang ibang tao?"
SEXIER JUDAY. In a previous interview, Judy Ann revealed that she lost 40 pounds in a span of seven months.

What is Ryan's reaction to Judy Ann's sexy figure now?
"Pareho lang, e, kasi nung naging kami ni Juday, na boyfriend-girlfriend, from that time, we both lost 40 pounds each.
"When we got together, mabigat kami pareho. Tingin ko hindi naman issue sa amin ang weight.
"Ang kinaka-[takot] ko, parang kulang na ang kwarto sa bahay dahil baka masundan pa [ang anak namin]," he said with a smile.
Does he think Juday is sexier now?
At this point, Juday joked: "Tinatapos na namin ang presscon na ito. Uuwi na po kami."
Ryan answered, "Oo naman, pero tingin ko, kahit hindi siya pumayat, ganun pa rin ang magiging sagot ko."
His answer elicited applause from the entertainment media present.
