Judy Ann enjoying pregnancy to the hilt

Now that Judy Ann Santos is well on her seventh month of pregnancy for a baby boy they fondly call Bochochoy, she admits that her excitement is mounting as much as a feeling of slight fear about the unknown rears its ugly head once in a while.

“Palapit nang palapit ang due date ko sa Oct. 19 kaya mas excited kaming lahat. Pero at the same time, natatakot din ako. Kasi siyempre hindi naman mawawala yun. I’ve been reading a lot and been doing yoga. For sure I will be breastfeeding. I am not yet sure but I might decide against using epidural when I give birth. Basta as of now that’s what’s in my mind, unless hindi ko na makaya yung pain. I have learned kasi that it is always better not to subject your body to anesthesia kasi makukuha din yun ng bata. Mas mabuti naman kung maibigay ko sa anak ko ang best. Kaya bahala na.”

Juday said that when she told Ryan about her preferred option of delivery, he just said, “bahala ka. It’s your decision. Basta ang gusto ko lang linawin, may pambayad tayo sa anesthesiologist,” Juday said, laughing.

Juday says all the changes that her body is undergoing at this time have minimal effect on her mood, if at all they have. “Ang nararamdaman ko lang naman at this point, madali akong hingalin, mapagod at medyo manas. Naiiinitan at saka medyo uneasy matulog. Pero nakakatulog naman ako lying on my back. Yun nga lang, tayo ako nang tayo para magbanyo madalas. Pero hindi ako masungit. Happy naman kahit mukha akong Winnie the Pooh,” she said.

Juday said she perspires a lot now and she loves it because “dati kasi hindi ako pawisin talaga. I love taking walks now and that’s what my doctor recommends as well. Kaya lang pag sa mall ako naglalakad-lakad, medyo napapagastos ako.”

Juday said she still finds time to cook. She wakes up early in the morning to prepare baon for Ryan whenever he has work and for Johann, their daughter. “I enjoy my life as plain housewife to the hilt. Enjoy din ako na ako na ang nagmamando sa bahay, alam ko na kung magkano ang budget sa kuryente. Ngayon nga, alam na alam ko na ang mga nangyayari sa bahay. Ginagawa na kasi yung nursery, kaya lahat ng pagpupukpok naririnig ko. Nakikita ko na rin kung gaano kabilis maubos ang sabon sa bahay,” Juday, obviously enjoying her role as a plain housewife to Ryan, said in jest.
“Pero alam mo, akala ko madali lang ang role na ito, but now that I am experiencing it, ang hirap pala,” she added.

The actress consciously took things lightly at work the moment she found out that she was pregnant. We saw her during the 30-minute pictorial for her Flawless billboard in Jun De Leon’s studio in The Fort last Thursday. “Gusto kasi ng Flawless to show me daw being pregnant but still flawless. O di ba,” she said, laughing.

Today, heavy at seven months but still looking beautiful, Juday said, “I made it a conscious effort on my part talaga to look good kahit buntis ako kasi hindi excuse maging pangit just because you’re pregnant. Puwede pa rin naman ako mag-work, huwag lang talaga kapareho nung dati. Basta ngayon wala lang puyatan at saka hindi lagare.”

She doesn’t see herself going back to the heavy grind after the baby is born. “I will give myself a few years maybe to be able to focus all my strength on the baby. I want to be hands on, to be personally responsible so I can see him grow up. Hindi ko kasi nagawa yan kay Johann.”

But that is not to say she will stop being in showbiz altogether. “Showbiz is my life. Ito naman po ang alam kong gawin. Take things slowly lang po muna to prioritize the baby. Hindi katulad nung dati na kahit Sunday work work ako,” she assures her fans. “Ayaw ko lang po talaga maging mas close pa yung anak ko sa iba. Gusto ko sa akin siya close.”

Juday also took the time to thank her fans who have been very thoughtful to her. “Sobrang bait nila. Ang dami nilang nagpapadala ng gifts for the baby. Halos kumpleto na nga ang gamit. May nagregalo ng stroller, car seat, toys, clothes. Hay naku, nakakatuwa.”

Juday is having the time of her life with the extra attention she gets from everyone. “Si Ryan talks to the baby every night. He is as excited as me. Even Johan can’t wait to see her baby brother. My mom calls me everyday to check on me also. Ang daming attention, nakakatuwa kasi everyone is as excited as me for this baby.”

While she admits that there have already been inquiries about her baby as endorser, Juday said, “Huwag na muna natin yan isipin. Ilabas muna natin yung bata bago natin pagplanuhan ang mga ganyang bagay. Kahit nga binyag hindi rin namin iniisip at this time. First things first,” she said.
