MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE 2) Judy Ann Santos is pregnant, according to her jubilant husband Ryan Agoncillo who made the announcement Friday on GMA Network’s noontime show “Eat Bulaga.”
The actress is two months and four days pregnant, Agoncillo said, showing the ultrasound image of the baby to an ecstatic studio audience.
“Magiging tatay na ako [I will soon become a father], said Agoncillo after making the announcement.
In a short phone patch interview, Santos expressed elation over her condition and said it was something they had waited for.
Asked by the show’s hosts whether she preferred a boy or girl, Santos said it wouldn’t matter as long as the baby would be healthy.
Agoncillo added that what was also important was their adopted child Johann would have a sibling.
The couple had only waited for the results of the final ultrasound test, according to a source close to the actress but who was not authorized to talk to media.
In a previous interview, Santos told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that she was planning to “slow down” should she get pregnant.
She said that she had been undergoing a series of “workup treatments” to aid the pregnancy.
She noted that she would only continue the commitments she had begun like the ABS-CBN soap opera “Habang May Buhay” and the Unitel drama “Ikaw ang Pag-Ibig,” which co-stars Agoncillo and directed by Marilou Diaz-Abaya.
The Agoncillos, who were married in ultra-secret ceremonies in April last year, are planning to fly to Europe next month for a much-delayed honeymoon.

MANILA, Philippines (1st UPDATE) - Young Superstar Judy Ann Santos and her husband, host-actor Ryan Agoncillo, on Friday confirmed that she is pregnant with their first child.
The couple made the announcement on the noontime variety show "Eat Bulaga," where Agoncillo is a co-host, weeks after speculation about Santos's pregnancy surfaced.
Agoncillo, surrounded by his co-hosts, held up an ultrasound image of their baby, while Santos joined them via phone patch.
In the interview, Santos said that what is important to her is that she and her hubby will finally have their own child.
"Masyado naman yatang selfish kung mamimili pa kami ng kasarian, so maski ano, basta healthy siya," Santos said.
"Basta ang importante ay magiging ate na si Yohan," Agoncillo said, referring to their adopted daughter Johanna Lois .
Santos admitted that because of her pregnancy, she will really have to take it slow when it comes to work.
"Extra careful lang sa work, medyo magbabawas lang ng konti sa trabaho, pero tatapusin ko lahat ng nasimulan bago mag-bakasyon ng dire-diretso para maging safe ang baby at maging safe din ako," Santos said.
Asked what her message was to her husband, Santos joked: "Basta pondohan niya lang yong bank account nung bata."
Santos extended her appreciation to all the people who support and pray for them.
Santos and Agoncillo tied the knot April 28, 2009 at San Juan Nepomuceno Church in San Juan, Batangas.
Agoncillo and Santos were first paired in the teleserye "Krystala" where their romance blossomed. They have starred in two movies together, "Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo" and "Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo" -- both of which have been box office hits.
Agoncillo proposed marriage to Santos on her 30th birthday in May 2008.
The couple recently starred in ABS-CBN's weekly show "George & Cecil."
Santos currently stars in Kapamilya's hit television series "Habang May Buhay," while Agoncillo is hosting a talent search show for TV5.
