THE well-loved teen barkada of the 90s, "Gimik", will once again grace the Philippine television this Sunday in ABS-CBN's Your Song presents "Gimik 2010".
After 11 years since it went off the air, the erstwhile Saturday series will hit the boob tube with its original casts - Judy Ann Santos, Diether Ocampo, Bojo Molina, G. Toengi, and Mylene Dizon.
The five actors will still carry their 1996 characters with Juday as Diane Villaruel and G. Toengi playing Gina de Leon. Gina is Diane's best friend in the series.
Diether will again breathe life to Gary Ballesteros, Gina's husband; Mylene as Melanie Suntay, the part-time student; and Bojo Molina as Brian Ledesma, Melanie's boyfriend.
According to Juday, their characters will be more matured this time and will tackle more on family affairs.
Joey and Ese's characters, played by former ABS-CBN stars Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal, respectively, will still be featured in the story.
"Masaya, parang hindi namin gustong maghiwa-hiwalay and yung pinag-uusapan, ibang chapter na nung buhay," Juday added.
The original Gimik series was aired in June 1996 up to February 1999.
Two months after it went off the air, Star Cinema came up with "Gimik: The Reunion Movie". It was then followed by "G-mik" series with Camille Prats, John Prats, Angelica Panganiban, Carlo Aquino, and Heart Evangelista.
The original casts will feature the first five episodes of "Gimik 2010" before new characters will be introduced.
Leading the set of new characters are Jessy Mendiola, Lance Christopher, Franco Daza, Kazou Nawa, Jaco Benin, Kenji Shirawaka, Janeena Chan, Hanna Flores, Daniel Padilla, Albie Casino, Mara Montes, and Marlan Flores.
"Your Song Presents: Gimik 2010" will air this Sunday only in ABS-CBN after noontime show ASAP XV.
