Judy Ann Santos, Iza Calzado, Janice de Belen and Agot Isidro won Best Actress in Cinemalaya 2012 for Mga Mumunting Lihim



After the successful 5-day screening of the finalists for the 2012 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and Competition at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Greenbelt 3 and TriNoma Mall last July 20-25, Cinemalaya officially announces the winners of this year’s competition. In the Directors Showcase category, the ensemble of actress including Judy Ann Santos, Iza Calzado, Janice de Belen and Agot Isidro for the film Mga Mumunting Lihim brought home the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress.

While the director and screen writer of the film Joey Javier Reyes brought home Best Screenplay award and the Best Editing goes to Vanessa de Leon. Mga Mumunting Lihim follows the story of four friends played by the Judy Ann Santos, Iza Calzado, Janice de Belen and Agot Isidro where the death of the character that was played by Judy Ann leads to big revelation to the rest of the three after the character of Iza read all the things written in the diary of the deceased best friend.

Here’s the complete list of the winners for the Director’s Showcase for the 2012 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and Competition:

Special Jury Prize: Kamera Obskura by Raymond Red
Audience Choice: Bwakaw
Best Director: Raymond Red for Kamera Obskura
Best Actress: Judy Ann Santos, Iza Calzado, Janice de Belen, and Agot Isidro (ensemble) for Mga Mumunting Lihim
Best Actor: Eddie Garcia for Bwakaw
Best Supporting Actress: Judy Ann Santos, Iza Calzado, Janice de Belen, and Agot Isidro (ensemble) and Mga Mumunting Lihim
Best Supporting Actor: Art Acuna for Posas
Best Screenplay: Jose Javier Reyes for Mga Mumunting Lihim
Best Cinematography: Albert Banzon for Kalayaan
Best Production Design: Adolfo Alix Jr. for Kalayaan
Best Editing: Vanessa de Leon for Mga Mumunting Lihim
Best Original Musical Score: Diwa de Leon for Kamera Obskura
Best Sound: Ditoy Aguila for Kalayaan

As of now there’s no update yet on when will the film will be screened in other cinemas for commercial release along with the other finalists.
