SEASONED actress Judy Ann Santos said she offers her latest primetime project, "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," to Comedy Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas and to other women who are victims of physical abuse.
In the series, Judy Ann will take the role of Anessa, a woman who falls deeply in love with Eros, played by Sam Milby. She will latter on find out that the man she love and marries will brought harm to her life.
The actress said the storyline of her new series somehow mirrors the current situation of Ai-Ai who recently revealed the alleged physical and verbal abuses she had received from her husband, Jed Salang. The couple broke up a month after they got married in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Kaibigan natin si Ai-Ai. I don't know Jed personally and I have nothing else to say to him. It's just that it is really sad dahil ang isang love story na pinangarap ng isang tao, all of a sudden biglang nawala," Judy Ann said.
She added that the industry sympathizes with the comedienne.
"Mahal namin siya. We're all here for her. Sana sa paglabas nitong soap na pinaghanda namin, marami kaming mahikayat na kababaihan na ipaglaban ninyo ang sarili ninyo," she said.
Judy Ann shared that she accepted her role in the new series as it challenges her acting ability. It also serves as her come back project after almost three years of not doing any series on television.
She added that she aims to empower women through the show.
"It's about women empowerment and at the same time pinapakita dito na ang babae hindi dapat sinasaktan, ang babae dapat marunong lumaban, hangga't tama yung pinaglalaban niya.Hindi porket asawa ka, papayag ka na lang na inaapi ka na. Makaka-relate ang mga babae ditto," Judy Ann said.
"Nakakalungkot lang isipin na mas maraming babae ngayon ang involved sa situation na dehado sila. This is to inspire women na hindi sa lahat ng pagkakataon lalake ang sinusunod lalo na kung maling mali ang nangyayari," she added.
She said the new series will also teach women how to protect themselves when they caught in unfortunate situation.
Judy Ann said the whole cast poured much effort and hard work into the project just to give quality programming to the viewing public.
"Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" premieres on June 17 on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.
