MANILA, Philippines -- Sam Milby is admittedly feeling the pressure of being the on-screen partner of an actress dubbed as a "young superstar."
For his latest television outing titled "Against All Odds," Milby is paired with actress Judy Ann Santos for the first time. Coming into the initial filming for the project, Milby said he felt shy being around Santos.
"I would say nung mga first taping days namin, hindi sa hindi ako kumportable, parang nahihiya ako sa kanya kasi siyempre sobrang magaling niya, sa teaser pa lang on cue talaga 'yung pag-iyak niya and everything. It’s so good," Milby was quoted as saying by Push.com.ph.
It did not take long, however, before he became at ease working with Santos, who is already considered a veteran in the local showbiz industry.
Having started acting at age 8, Santos is now dubbed a "young superstar" for her longevity and continued success as an actress.
"But I was surprised with how extremely nice she is sa lahat. It’s a lot of fun. She’s just so easy to work with. She has a lot of patience with me. Minsan kahit nabubulol ako, she’s patient with me," said Milby, who even shared a photo of him and Santos on Twitter.
Born in Ohio in the United States, Milby's early years in showbiz saw him mostly limited to speaking in English, his first language, despite being cast in a lead role.
For her part, Santos has only good words for the ex-"PBB" housemate. In a separate interview in early August, the actress said:
"With Sam naman kasi, pwede siyang maging bida, pwede siyang maging kontrabida. Oras naman na para kay Sam para gumraduate sa mga cute films, kasi mature na siya eh. At may arte siyang talaga, may arte siyang taglay, kailangan lang i-push nang husto, and he really listens."
Aside from Milby, who describes working with Santos as a "highlight" of his career, "Against All Odds" also stars KC Concepcion, Tirso Cruz III, Coney Reyes and John Estrada.
"Against All Odds" is expected for a primetime telecast later this year.
