MANILA, Philippines -- Regal Films matriarch Lily Monteverde is blaming the alleged solo-billing demand of actress Marian Rivera for the film outfit's failure to submit an exclusive entry to 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
This year, Regal Films will be co-producing with Star Cinema and Skylight Films a horror movie starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
The film outfit's annual "Shake, Rattle & Roll" installment, which has been part of the MMFF since 2005, is notably absent from the eight competing entries this year.
Monteverde had originally planned to submit a film co-starring Rivera and Kapamilya actress Judy Ann Santos as Regal Films' entry to this year's film festival, according to a report published on the entertainment news site Philippine Entertainment Portal on Wednesday.
However, Monteverde said Rivera, who is a contract artist of Regal Films, demanded that she be given a solo-starrer.
"Ayaw niya gawin kasi gusto raw niya, solo siya. You know, malungkot din ako kasi wala ako entry. Pero ayaw gawin ni Marian, e," Monteverde was quoted as saying in the report.
Responding to Monteverde's statement, Rivera said she has no knowledge of the supposed big-screen team-up with Santos.
"Hindi ko alam, e. Si Tatay [Mr. Tony Tuviera], si Ateng [Rams David] na lang ang tanungin mo. Hindi naman ako lang ang nagdi-decide," Rivera was quoted as saying in the same report.
"Narinig ko nga 'yan na parang tinanggihan ko raw si Judy Ann. Wala akong alam diyan. Ako na naman ang masisisi diyan," she said.
Monteverde maintained, however, that Rivera turned down the project, even recalling it happened during a meeting at a coffee shop.
"I don't lie. Sa Starbucks kami, nandiyan si Roselle [Monteverde-Teo], kaharap namin. Siya (Rivera) ang nagsabi na ayaw niya na may kasama. Gusto niya, solo," the veteran film producer said.
She added: "How many years na ako sa showbiz, I’m not lying. I’m a cancer patient, and I don’t want to lie. Siya talaga ang tumatanggi."
Rivera, the report said, has yet to respond to Monteverde's latest statments.

In an interview with pep.ph, Mother Lily Monteverde, the lady producer of Regal Films, revealed Marian Rivera is the reason why her company has failed to join the Metro Manila Film Festival or MMFF 2013. Said interview was posted on this website just this evening, June 19, 2013 (Philippine time)

On the part of Marian Rivera, she insisted that Mother Lily's statement regarding the movie offer with Judy Ann Santos as her co-star is not true.Based on her statement with pep, Marian Rivera, the prized talent of GMA-7, turned down her offer to do a movie with Judy Ann Santos because she
 wants a solo movie.

As expected, the issue went viral after a few minutes of posting. Marian's haters believe that Mother Lily is not telling a lie.

Marian's supporters really don't understand why the lady producer resort to negative issues because the movie titled "My Lady Boss" starring Marian Rivera and Richard Gutierrez was produced by Regal Films.

Incidentally, the movie is in the bag already but due to some reasons, Regal Films had no choice but to cancel its showing.

Pinag-aagawan ang serbisyo ni Juday ngayon ng tatlong film outfits to do a movie for them para sa coming MMFF this December.

Nauna na sa pila sa tatlo si Mother Lily ng Regal Films who had a meeting already with Jun Lana na siyang magdidirek ng movie at handa nang i-submit ng Regal sa MMFF ang commitment nila.

Balak man ng Viva Films na gawing entry rin this year ang Magkakapatid nina Sharon Cuneta, Sarah Geronimo at Juday ay hanggang balak pa rin si Boss Vic since three years ago.

Ganoon din ang GMA Films na four years nang balak ni Joey Abacan na sundan ang nauna nilang Ouija, pero hanggang tsika lang at wala nang follow-up.

I am sure, manggugulo na naman ang Star Cinema by insisting na gawin na ang noon pang balak na Juday-Coco Martin movie na ang location shoot ay sa Las Vegas pa kuno. Kikilos na kaya ang Star Cinema ngayong nabasa na nila itong balak ng Regal Films?

Ratsada na naman sa trabaho si Judy Ann Santos. Nakabakasyon na naman kasi siya kaya kailangan niyang harapin ang kanyang mga commitment.

Una na riyan ang bagong drama series niyang Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala sa Channel 2.

Matagal na rin ‘yung huli niyang serye na Habang May Buhay kung saan reunited sila ng friend at number one nemesis niya sa drama na si Gladys Reyes.

Then, si Juday ang gusto ng mag-inang Mother Lily at Roselle Monteverde na magbida sa Metro Manila Filmfest entry ng Regal. Ayaw pang sabihin ni Tito Alfie Lorenzo ang konsepto ng festival movie ng alaga.

Basta hands on ang manager sa kuwento pati na ang makakasama niya. Ang award-winning director na si Jun Lana ang director ng movie.

WE told Judy Ann Santos at her launch as Eden Cheese celebrity endorser that she’s the only one in her batch (that includes Claudine Barretto and Jolina Magdangal) who remains so active because she has such a beautiful and positive aura resulting from her happy marriage with Ryan Agoncillo.

“Thank you po,” she said. “Ang sarap namang pakinggan.”

Right now, so many film companies are vying for her services to start a new movie with them. Viva wants her to do a movie with Claudine Barretto (their first together) while Star Cinema wants her to star with Coco Martin or John Lloyd Cruz. GMA Films is also after her to do “Ouija 2” while Gov. ER Ejercito wants her to play his first wife in “El Presidente, Emilio Aguinaldo Story.”

Her manager, Alfie Lorenzo, doesn’t want Juday to do a movie with Claudine, so that’s out. Her project with Coco has long been in the drawing boards but she’d have to wait as he’s still finishing “You Light Up My Life” with Angeline Quinto. Also, Mother Lily wants Coco to give priority to his movie with Marian Rivera  to start shooting soon, directed by Maryo de los Reyes with an August playdate. As for a movie with John Lloyd, Juday also has to wait since he’s giving priority to his reunion movie with Sarah Geronimo, their third team up. Someone tells us “Malabo rin yung ‘Ouija 2’ ng GMA Films and Juday herself has turned down the offer of Gov. ER.

In the Eden Cheese affair, Juday made it clear she has nothing against ER. “It’s a big project at historical pa,” she says. “But I cannot relate to the character I’d play kasi hindi naman siya buhay. I’d rather play someone I can relate with personally, para mas mabigyan ko ng justice. Ayokong mapulaan ang movie ng dahil sa’kin. I’m sure they can get a better actress na mas makakatulong para mas mapaganda ang movie. I have nothing personal against Gov. ER. Ako mismo ang natatakot na baka hindi ko maitawid ng tama yung role at lumabas lang ng katawa-tawa. I hope he understands.”
