Sam Milby is all set to match Judy Ann Santos’s dramatic performance in ‘Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala’

Sam Milby was quick to refute speculations that his recently-concluded teleserye Kahit Konting Pagtingin was cut short due to low ratings. Previous reports also mentioned that his co-star Angeline Quinto had been constantly criticized for her acting skills which might have affected the soap’s performance. “No, it’s not that. The plan really was for it to run for 13 weeks. Naka-13 weeks naman. That was really the plan,” said Sam in an interview with Push.com.ph. 

Nevertheless, the Rockoustic Heartthrob is looking forward to his next teleserye Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala opposite the Queen of Teleserye Judy Ann Santos. When asked if he’s ready to match Judy Ann’s dramatic performance and become the King of Teleserye, Sam maintained that he’d rather focus on improving his craft than dwell on his status in showbiz. “Yung mga title title [hindi ko iniisip] basta gusto ko lang ibigay best ko at sana maging maganda pagtanggap ng kapamilya nating manonood. I’m very happy kasi kakaiba yung role na ginagawa ko dito. It’s a different Sam na makikita ng mga tao. It’s a very grey role. Excited ako.Maybe it will air sometime in June.”

Although he didn’t have the chance to watch Judy Ann’s previous soaps, Sam attested to the fact that she hasn’t lost her sparkle to this day. “Yung working relationship namin, hindi naman ako lumaki dito sa Pilipinas, I didn’t get to watch her projects. But working with her sa mga eksena, magaling talaga si Judy Ann. Sometimes nai-intimidate ako kasi ang galing talaga. Tapos minsan sa eksena nabubulol ako minsan lalo na kapag kasama ko siya kasi prine-pressure ko sarili ko.” Sam added that he reads Tagalog tongue twisters everyday to improve his grasp of the language.

In the meantime, Sam is thrilled because Adolfo Alix Jr.’s indie movie Death March—where he is top-billed together with Zanjoe Marudo, Ejay Falcon, Carlo Aquino, and Sid Lucero—will be screened at Cannes Film Festival next month. The said indie film will be pitted against 14 other foreign entries for the Un Certain Regard Section, along with another Filipino film, Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan, directed by Lav Diaz.

Blame it on Coco’s schedule

NOW it can be told why the supposed Judy Ann Santos and Coco Martin team-up did not materialized.
Coco was reportedly replaced by Sam Milby.
Judy Ann and Sam have now started taping for the series, we heard.
In any case, Coco and Judy Ann both expressed excitement over the idea of working with each other. It would have been their first.
In any case, a Coco insider said that Coco’s schedule is to be blamed. The source further stated: “Hindi kasi akalain ni Coco and those behind his career na mae-extend ang kanyang series na ‘Walang Hanggan’ till October.
“E, di ba, for a time, he was also busy promoting his movie, ‘Born To Love You,’ with Angeline Quinto which was only released recently.”
It is obviously also Coco’s busy schedule which is the reason he has yet to start work on his first team-up with Marian Rivera, a movie to be produced by Mother Lily Monteverde’s film firm, Regal Entertainment.
Mother Lily wants the movie released before the year ends.

MANILA, Philippines - Mukhang hindi na matutuloy ang pelikulang pagsasamahan dapat nina Judy Ann Santos at Coco Martin. Hindi kasi talaga magtugma ang schedule ng dalawa.
“Hindi ko nga rin alam eh. Kung dati sobrang sure ako sa pagsabi na, yes tuloy, ngayon ’di na ako sure kasi ang daming ginagawa ni bagets. Meron siyang teleserye, pelikula kay Angeline Quinto at may pelikula rin kay Marian Rivera.
“Ako rin ang dami ko ring gagawin at sabi ko sa ABS-CBN, hindi ako makakapagsabay-sabay ng projects. May dalawang naka-line up, isang tele­serye at ’yung Master Chef,” pahayag ni Judy Ann.
Gusto na nga makita at makausap ng personal ng aktres si Coco dahil hindi pa ito nangyayari kahit kailan.
“Gusto ko siya pero nire-reserve ko ’yung moment na magkakilala kami ni Coco kasi may eksena kami sa pelikula na kakikilala lang namin. Ewan ko, siguro nag-eeksperimento ako. Gusto ko lang tingnan ’yung magiging rapport namin, ’yung umpisang kita namin on camera. Ano’ng level ng pagkailang niya sa akin. Ewan ko kung matupad pero ’yun lang naman ang gusto ko,” paliwanag ni Juday.
Nakikita rin ng aktres kay Coco ang pagiging magaling na aktor at talagang malayo ang marara­ting nito. “Matindi naman ang passion na ipinapakita niya sa pag-arte. Nakikita ko ’yun kapag napapanood ko siya. Kung gaano siya ka-intense at kung paano niya pinag-aaralan ang bawat character na ibinibigay sa kanya sa teleserye. Tatagal siya basta wala siyang gagawing kabalbalan,” deretsahang sabi ni Juday.
